Chile Awoke
Since October 18 of this year, many things changed. Perhaps not in the way we expect all those who fight from the social outbreak, since politicians have become deaf to the social demands that the movement shouts. However, various issues have come to light, questioning things that were standardized in much of society. Capitalism installed in the country began to be strongly questioned, so large retail stores were looted and burned. Hand in hand is reducing consumption, an idea that came out strongly with the awakening of Chile. Thus, multiple ideological and symbolic issues came to light, apart from concrete social demands.
Personally, I feel that the emotions I have experienced since it all started are indescribable. I have felt anger, mainly because of the repression by a murderous state, that it does not care about the lives of the people who fight, but only seeks to maintain their privileges. Also, I have felt nostalgia and emotion to see that the communities rise to achieve the same goals, for a dignified life and that it is worth living, to return to the roots, to recover a culture that has been usurped since hundreds of decades ago.
I imagine that the experience has been calmer than what people who live in Santiago or in large cities have lived where the demonstrations are more "violent". I live in Molina, seventh region. It is a small city and has practically always been quite peaceful and familiar. However, there is a group of people that began to organize to keep the movement alive and give a voice to social demands. It is in this group, called the “Kechu Rewe” Assembly, that I included myself and began to participate in activities, assemblies, conversations, etc.
In this instance it is essential to organize from all the territories of the country, generating instances of reflection and meeting, in search of a better society
